Import Sources

Currently AY Mail supports recipient import from the following sources:

ODBC Databases (Access, Excel etc.) Any ODBC compliant database. Most of existing databases have ODBC driver and thus can be accessed through ODBC. For more details, see How to Import Recipients from ODBC Databases or How to Import Recipients from Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets.

Text or CSV (Comma Separated Values) File CSV is a file format used by various applications (most notably Microsoft Excel) to transfer data. You need to save the file as a CSV, then import it into AY Mail. See How to Import Recipients through CSV Files for details.

Clipboard This will paste email addresses from the clipboard. You can also do clipboard import by clicking on the Recipients tab and pressing Shift+Ins (or Ctrl+V) on the keyboard. AY Mail has its own clipboard format, which it uses when you copy recipients from the AY Mail recipient lists. It also will paste addresses if clipboard contains a text with e-mail addresses.

Any File (Addresses Only) This will import email addresses from any kind of text file, even if the addresses are scattered all over the file without any order.

Web File (Addresses Only) This will import email addresses from any kind of Web file or Web page, even if the addresses are scattered all over it without any order.

Windows/Outlook Express Address Book Windows Address Book is used Microsoft Outlook Express (Microsoft Windows Mail on Windows Vista and later versions) to store contact information. Other applications may store their contact information in the Windows Address Book as well. Microsoft Outlook may be configured to provide data storage for the address book. See How to Import Recipients from Address Books for details.

Microsoft Outlook Contact Folders This will import all the addresses from Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express) Contacts folders. AY Mail uses MAPI to connect to Outlook. MAPI is an open architecture and other mail application may register itself as MAPI provider. If this happens, AY Mail will try to load folders from this other application, which may or may not work. See How to Import Recipients from Address Books for details.

Netscape/Mozilla/Thunderbird Address Books This will import all the addresses from Netscape, Mozilla or Thunderbird Address Books. See How to Import Recipients from Address Books for details.

Eudora Address Book This will import all the addresses from Eudora Address Book. See How to Import Recipients from Address Books for details.

Microsoft Windows Mail Folders Windows Mail was introduced as a default mailing software for Microsoft Windows Vista. You can extract email addresses of senders or recipients from all or some of your Windows Mail folders. See How to Import Recipients from Mail Folders for details.

Microsoft Outlook Express Folders You can extract email addresses of senders or recipients from all or some of your Microsoft Outlook Express folders. See How to Import Recipients from Mail Folders for details.

Microsoft Outlook Mail Folders You can extract email addresses of senders or recipients from all or some of your Microsoft Outlook folders. AY Mail uses MAPI to connect to Outlook. MAPI is an open architecture and other mail application may register itself as MAPI provider. If this happens, AY Mail will try to load folders from this other application, which may or may not work. See How to Import Recipients from Mail Folders for details.

Netscape/Mozilla/Thunderbird Mailboxes You can extract email addresses of senders or recipients from all or some of your Netscape Messanger, Mozilla or Thunderbird mailboxes. See How to Import Recipients from Mail Folders for details.

Eudora Mailboxes You can extract email addresses of senders or recipients from all or some of your Eudora mailboxes. See How to Import Recipients from Mail Folders for details.

Unix-Style Mailbox You can try to extract email addresses of senders or recipients from folders created by mail software that is not directly supported by AY Mail. Just select Unix Style mailboxes and navigate to a file that contains e-mail. Many software programs will store their mailboxes in the compatible format.

AY Mail 1 Recipient List AY Mail 1 recipient files with .AYR extension can be imported. See Migration from AY Mail 1 for details. This option can also be used to import e-mail addresses from assorted text files.

AY Mail 2 Recipient List Any other AY Mail 2 project (except for the current one) can serve as a source for import.
